Damage Waiver

Understanding your liability when renting on BaeCars.

What is the Damage Waiver?

The Damage Waiver is an optional liability cap you can add at checkout for ₹299 per trip. It limits your personal financial responsibility to a maximum of ₹10,000 if the vehicle sustains covered damage during your trip. This is not insurance — it is a contractual waiver between you and BaeCars.

Covered

  • Surface scratches (paint-level)
  • Minor dents (panel-level, no structural)
  • Windshield chips and small cracks
  • Side mirror cosmetic damage

Not covered

  • Mechanical or engine damage
  • Theft or total loss
  • Interior damage (upholstery, dashboard)
  • Tyre and wheel damage
  • Third-party liability claims
  • Damage caused by negligence or DUI

How it works

Add at checkout — Toggle the Damage Waiver on before booking. ₹299 is added to your total.

Pre-trip & post-trip photos — Both you and the host take photos before and after the trip. These document the vehicle's condition.

If covered damage is found — Your liability is capped at ₹10,000. The repair cost is deducted from your security deposit, up to the cap amount.

No damage? — Your full security deposit is refunded within 48 hours of trip completion.

Without the Damage Waiver

You are personally liable for the full cost of any damage to the vehicle during your trip, up to the security deposit amount held. BaeCars will deduct repair costs from your security deposit based on damage assessment (photo evidence reviewed by our team).

Important

  • The Damage Waiver is not motor insurance. The host's vehicle carries its own motor insurance as required by law.
  • Damage assessment is reviewed by the BaeCars team using pre-trip and post-trip photos.
  • The ₹299 fee is non-refundable, even if no damage occurs.
  • The waiver applies only to the specific trip for which it was purchased.
  • Disputes can be raised within 48 hours of trip completion.

When you host

Screened guests

Every guest verifies their Aadhaar and driving license through our KYC system before they can book. We also maintain trust scores based on trip history.

Trip documentation

Pre-trip and post-trip photos are required. Our AI damage detection system automatically flags any changes between the two sets.

Security deposit

A refundable deposit is held for every trip. If damage occurs, the deposit covers repairs up to the hold amount.
