What is self-drive car rental?

Self-drive car rental means you rent a car and drive it yourself — no chauffeur. On BaeCars you book a car from a verified local host, pick it up at the airport or your hotel, and drive it for the duration of your booking. Fuel, tolls and parking are usually paid by the renter; insurance is included.

How much does self-drive car rental cost in India?

Self-drive car rental in India starts at ₹1,200 per day on BaeCars. Hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift start lowest, sedans like the Honda Amaze are mid-range, and SUVs like the Toyota Innova or Mahindra Thar are at the top end. Monthly rentals start at ₹45,000.

Which cities does BaeCars operate in?

BaeCars is currently live in Jaipur and Udaipur, with host registration open across India. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and others are launching as we onboard local hosts in each market.

Can foreign tourists rent a self-drive car in India?

Yes. International visitors can rent a self-drive car in India with a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in their home country, a passport, and an Indian visa. BaeCars supports international Visa and Mastercard payments and offers airport pickup at Jaipur (JAI) and Udaipur (UDR).

What documents do Indians need to rent a self-drive car?

Indian renters need a valid driving licence (in Form 4 of the CMV Rules) and an Aadhaar card. A refundable security deposit is held on your card or via UPI; it's released within 7 days of trip end if the car is returned without damage.

Is the car insured?

Yes — every car listed on BaeCars carries comprehensive insurance covering third-party liability and own damage. Optional damage protection is available at checkout to reduce your deductible to zero.

Can I get the car delivered to my hotel or the airport?

Yes, most BaeCars hosts offer doorstep delivery in their city — your hotel, residence, the railway station, or the airport. Delivery within city limits is usually free or has a small fixed fee shown at checkout.

Can I drive the rental car between cities or out of state?

Yes. Self-drive cars on BaeCars are commonly used for road trips — Jaipur to Udaipur, Jaipur to Jaisalmer, Delhi to Agra, etc. Each booking comes with a kilometre allowance; unlimited-km packages are available on most cars for cross-state travel.
